I;m sure there are Goldens in shelters in Memphis, they aren't a uncommon breed. A shelter may also offer discounted spaying if the dog isn't already(They will probably insist on the spaying it may or may not be discounted).
i would recommend www.petfinder.com that's were i got my dog they give dogs from the shelters and post them on a website and try to find loving owner to adopt a dog or any animal.
