I have had two dogs, one an Old English sheep dog for fourteen years,and he was not only our dog,but the best friend. Than after he passed away, My Dearly departed Son got me a Springer Spaniel from a rescue Centre. Where he was adopted four times and rejected without reading the poor dogs past history. He came to me, and we,after a while did become the best friends to each other. He was the cleverest thing I have ever known about a dog. It only take a little while to know the dog's history and have him understand that I am not going to treat him like others. I have, to my demise,lost him to nature above after ten years of the most wonderful time. I am in mourning for two,one being my dearest Son,and my loving dog. Please I am writing all this to let you know that to say what you said is not an easy task. Where can I find puppies or small dogs for sale in New York City, talking from $10-100?
Hi, I'm really interested in owning a puppy or a small dog. I'm interested in a Maltese, Shi-tzu or a Chihuahua. I'm looking for one that I can adopt for a small fee not more than 100 dollars. I already checked humane society but their fees are high.
I will have enough money for taking the pet to the vet, and buy food for them. Yes I know, it is about 1,000 dollars annually. I have done my research about taking care of them.

You should keep trying at the humane society, they might be over your price range but they are better priced than pet stores or breeders.. If you find a dog for under a $100 dollars not at a shelter, trust me, you'll be paying way more then a $1000 on vet bills. More like $7000. Spend the extra hundred to adopt or spend the extra couple hundred to get one from a good breeder. It may save you thousands on a vet bill.
And the fees at the humane society cover spaying/neutering (depending on age or may give you coupon), vaccinations, micro chipping and sometimes other services. You would have to pay for these anyways.
Its great that you are trying to adopt! there are so many animals that need a good home. Keep checking with various humane societies... sometimes you can check for upcoming events like a pet fair where adoption agencies lower the fees. I know here in california almost once a month the rescue shelter hosts an event for low cost adoptions... hopefully you'll find one in New York

My family and i are looking for a puppy or a young dog for sale near Portland, Oregon... and some around WA. we look everyday on petfinder but someone always gets the ones we like .. we also look at almost every humane society page near us .. but again find one then they get adopted .. anyone have any ideas for us on how to find a puppy or young dog ?.. anyone have adoptable puppies near us?. also were trying to find a dog with short hair and medium height.Who knows of a puppy or young dogs for sale ?
Why don't you try putting the puppies on hold. Most Humane Societies will do that for you. When you find one you'd like to consider, call them and ask to put the puppy on hold. Is there a place to report dogs for sale scam?
I was browsing on a site and came across a breeder who has 49 puppies for sale.All the puppies were $350 and that included shipping to the new owner. The pups include some of the more expensive and rare breeds too such as yorkies,maltese, bull dogs and havanese.
Either this has to be a scam (isnt shipping at least $200 ?) or a very large scale puppy mill.
Is there a place to report this or a place to warn people lookingfor dogs ?

Just keep spreading the word about what a crappy site it is, and hopefully people will learn before they buy one of these dogs.

Im from vietnam. I love phu quoc dogs but the tickets to vietnam is expensive. I need to know where to get one. And can do shipping to usa. Trusting someone in a completely different country, on a completely different continent to ship a dog to you without you seeing the dog, the conditions the dog was raised in, the parents, etc, is a recipe for disaster.
You don't know if they are selling you a sick dog, a dog that isn't what you wanted (as in, a mutt or a completely different breed of dog,) a badly bred dog, or a dog from a puppy mill that is going to be traumatized or poorly socialized.
You also don't know if they are scam artists who will keep your money and then disappear leaving you to settle a dispute in a completely different country (where you're going to have to spend the money trying to track these people down to get your money back,) or lose the money (which at that point, it seems to me that getting your money back would be cost prohibitive.)
If you are looking for a dog with a similar look you can try a Rhodesian Ridgeback or a Jindo (two breeds of dogs- the Ridgeback has the same ridge- the Jindo doesn't but it is an Asian breed of dog.)
The dog you are asking about is one of the rarest breeds in the world according to the information I have- so tracking one down IMO is going to require a LOT of research on exporting dogs, large expense and a trip to Vietnam to make sure you aren't getting ripped off.
I knew someone who brought a Leonberger from Germany- in the end it cost her about $10,000 to import the dog from Europe including vaccinations, Vet bills, and quarantine of the dog to make sure it wasn't sick.

Your dog doesn't even meet that qualification. They must have genetic testing. They must have health tests, and that's more than an okay from the vet. These health tests can cost 100s of dollars. The dog has to be registered. Both dogs must have titles. After all, you're only breeding the best.
5. If you really want to breed, you'll do a lot more research. A good breeder breeds to better the breed, not to have fun or make a profit. Find a responsible breeder, and ask them to teach you. Read as many books as you can on breeding dogs.

First off I'm cringing a little bit just because you're looking for a dog that is cheap. Are you able to financially support this pup financially, both from a day to day basis and also for if he/she needs sudden emergency care? Why are you interested specifically in a small dog?
I agree that a shelter is a wonderful place to look for a dog, however, a number do end up there with a problem of some sort (thanks to people who are uneducated about raising their dog) and potential owners need to be knowledgeable in how to care for them. If you are acquiring a puppy through a breeder (if purchasing through a reputable breeder you can probably expect to pay between $1000 up)... you could still run into the same problems if early socialization and positive training/bonding are not enforced.
I've seen way too many small dogs become fear aggressive due to a lack of socialization and environmental training. This means exposing the dog to a variety of people, other dogs, cats, small animals, males, females, children, and also to different places/noises, as well as allowing them to walk on various surfaces such as carpeting, sand, grass, wood, metal etc.
Good luck in your search and please make sure you are able to provide your 4 legged family member with love, financial and timely support, and the best food you can possibly feed him/her.
Edit: Okay, thanks for reassuring me, I was just a little concerned seeing as so many people seem so naive when it comes to purchasing an animal. Forgive me for lecturing, haha.

Find a good breeder by going to www.akc.org or talking to people at dog shows. You can also find info about the breed clubs on the akc site - they probably have a rescue group where you can get an older dog for less money. The best breeders will be members of their breed club, promoting healthy dogs with great temperaments. They should ask you a bunch of questions to make sure their puppy will be getting a good home. If all a ';breeder'; seems to care about is whether your check will clear, you can be sure he won't care a week later when the pup is dying from distemper or parvo and you want your money back.
Whatever you do, DON'T go to a pet shop, a flea market or buy one sight-unseen off the Internet!!!! You'll pay top dollar for what is usually a poor quality puppy mill dog. You will getting a pet quality dog and not a show dog. So it is buyer beware, so ask questions, the dog should at least have a health certificate, up to date shots, spayed/neutered and be clean.
If you want a pure breed dog go to a competent breeder that can provide Pedigree Papers with the dog. You will have the best genetics that the breeder can provide and you will have a pure breed dog.
It all boil down to what you want. Go to a book store or a library and check out the different breeds. I'm sure there is information some where on the net.

Unfortunately, most of the poo mixes that I have seen lately have come from puppy mills.
The only one that looked even semi-reasonable in Nebraska was MB Pet Connection. Even so I would still want to visit their kennel and check out the puppy's parents.

Be advised that dogs trained for sport ARE not real life protection dogs and do not allow anyone to sell you one as such.
Dogs like that will cost around $10.000 and do not pay a penny more for one, regardless of what anyone tells you. You are looking for a protection dog, not a show animal.

First, get a hot dog bun. Add ketchup, mustard, sweet onion and dill relish. Next add the hot dog (Nathans all beef are the best). Then top with wolf brand chili and sprinkle with mild cheddar cheese. Then put it in the oven on broil just to melt the cheese. Only needs to be there about a minute or so then remove, cool and enjoy!!! Stay away from canned hot dog sauce, all they are is ground beans with chili powder. yuck!!!! What about your local shelter? Adopting a puppy or older dog from an overcrowded shelter will save a life. Plus, there's the added benefit that you aren't supporting a puppymill or BYB. If you insist on a purebred, check rescue groups in your area. You'll still be saving a life and again, not supporting mills or BYBs.

What about your local shelter? Adopting a puppy or older dog from an overcrowded shelter will save a life. Plus, there's the added benefit that you aren't supporting a puppymill or BYB. If you insist on a purebred, check rescue groups in your area. You'll still be saving a life and again, not supporting mills or BYBs.

You will not get a (healthy) dog from a breeder for under $280. If you see anyone offering near that amount, RUN. Purchasing an unhealthy dog will cost you money in the long run!

Those breeds are pretty common, and I suggest looking on Petfinder also or at local animal shelters.
Somebody said that you can't find puppies to adopt via Petfinder or a shelter - that's not true, there are a lot of puppies that are homeless too!
Do be prepared however, that an adoption fee may in fact be over the amount you are willing to pay - puppy adoption fees are often more because puppies are more easily adopted and shelters can get higher prices for pups - this helps them to help all of the older dogs in the shelter!

And, there are rescues who specialize in certain breeds....like a poodle rescue, etc.. Since you don't have a certain breed in mind, please try the rescue groups and petfinder first. Also, check with your local vet.

Actually, older dogs have a better attention span and learn tricks quicker because of this. Older dogs often house train quicker than younger dogs. Petfinder is the best way to find a dog, at least in my opinion.
There are tons of websites that have dogs for sale. But many of them are puppy mills. I had a friend find a lovely dog on the internet and she paid to have it shipped to her 2000 dollars total the dogs temperment sucks to this day and has since she was a pup. I recommend you just go down and meet the parents of the pup you plan to purchase so you know what your getting into.
I know that answer will give me many thumbs down but its the truth.
Go to places like Petco, or Petsmart, or your local shelter. Adopt an adult dog, whose personality is already know. More people are sooooooooooo disappointed when they adopt a puppy.... two years of real hell, chewing up everything, peeing and pooping on your furniture, lots of time in training, eating stuff that causes intestinal blockages (read expensive surgeries) shots, chipping, you name it. Adults dogs' personalities are already known, most have lived with 'adopted parents' for awhile, and are socialized. And these people really know the dogs well, and really know how to match your wishes with the perfect dog. You won't be disappointed. They have everything from little fluffy guys to big serious dogs.... mine are all dobies, all cupcakes, all loving.... no one told any of them they were wearing dobie suits......
Pick a breed, any breed, and go to their rescue site. Rescues are dogs who have had a rough start and are looking for forever homes.
Please adopt a rescue.

I wouldn't recommend buying a pet because there are so many pets without homes as it is. There are plenty of pet rescues for every breed and animal shelters. That is a good place to start. If you are seriously set on purchasing a pet the AKC is the best place to look because they are focused on responsible pet ownership and breeding and you will be able to locate a reputable breeder through them. Do not get stuck buying from a backyard breeder, pet store, or puppy mill. These are irresponsible breeders and you shouldn't consider doing buisness with them. Go to your local shelter. I have two shelter dogs and they are just as wonderful as any purebred I have ever had. And a bonus is that if you choose a good mixed breed you often escape the health problems that can come with purebreds. They're extremely powerful and will require a very experienced handler. Without one, you could have a massive weapon which can lead to some very serious consequences in the future. I'm sure it's possible to find one in NZ, but living in America I wouldn't know for certain. If you're interested in this beautiful yet very powerful breed, please talk to a breed club or a reputable breeder regardless of their location to get some information on them, handling them, and how you can get the proper experience to deal with such a dog.

A good quality German Shepherd will probably cost you more than 600 $'s. it will be very worth it to save your money and buy a more expensive puppy,where the parents have at least one title and are health guaranteed, have hips/elbows cleared (VERY important). please do your homework before getting a german shepherd. know the breed before getting one. that is the best thing you can do. no question is a stupid one, ask anything you feel uneasy about! the breeder should be asking just as many questions as you are, and be concerned as to where the puppy is going. dont count on the first puppy you see because ';its soo cute'; ALL puppies are cute. but make sure you look passed just the cuteness. You do know that this dog breed is consider a dangerous dog breed and that to own one of these beautiful animals will affect your home owner insurance and may even void it all together.
These bold and fearless dogs bond strongly with their owners but tend to be wary of strangers, especially male strangers. Sometimes distant and temperamental, Czechoslovakian Wolf dogs can be taught to live with other family pets but tend to be aggressive toward unfamiliar animals.
Crossbreeding wolves with domesticated dogs produces animals with the same wild instincts of the wolf. They are extremely unpredictable as pets, especially around children. A 13-month-old boy was killed by a wolf hybrid kept as a pet in Idaho in 2003, a five-year-old Kentucky boy was killed in 2002, and a five-year-old boy was killed by a wolf hybrid who belonged to the boy's grandmother in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2000.
More than 20 states prohibit the possession of certain wild animals as pets. Ohio law allows wolves and wolf hybrids to be kept without a license. Pennsylvania law requires a permit for them. However, according to Pennsylvania authorities, the nine wolf hybrids were not licensed as wild animals. Instead they were licensed as domesticated dogs.
I am sorry if all I have for you is negative news of your animal choice, but I have seen these types of dogs attack people as well as other animals not to mention the constant news reports of children attacked and killed by dangerous dogs. Ever year hundreds are attacked and are killed and hundreds more are scarred for life because of dog bite and attacks.
Here is the only site that I could find for you there are others, but they are in france and germany, no one else sells these dogs and they are banned in 20 state and in the UK.

okay most of you will argue and moan about me needing to sell my dog, my vet and trainer have recommended it so I am just asking were would be a good place to post a dog of 2yrs old for sale? I am not going to explain why or anything like that I don't need help to try to fix him already paid for a professional advice and have taken him to my vets and everything needed to see if his problem could be fixed and they both have ruled finding him a new home would help keep both party dogs safe and happy. Louisiana Catahoula adult dog for sale?
I am looking for a Adult neutered male... I had a red catahoula that I loved so much more than I can say in words he meant alot to me... well anyway he got hit by a car Feb. we had a invisible fence but he ran out to come see us as our bus was stopping at our house and bam in a second he got hit... well anyway I am looking for a dog that is very close to his Jake's(my dog that got hit) personality he was a VERY good guard dog, he acted like a Chihuahua by jumping up in the recliner and sitting with you... He LOVED affection, very well trained, trustworthy, would herd the horses when needed, slept in bed with me every night besides when I am gone he would get a little upset and when i got home he would give me tons of kisses...

You should not consider getting another dog until you get a real fence put up on your property. It's obvious that the electric fence did not work to keep your old dog safe. It would be very irresponsible to have another dog in that condition.
As Catahoulas are rare dogs that are not yet eligible for AKC registration, it will be difficult for you to find one. Where did you get your last one? You might want to start there. You are working with an impossible price for a responsibly bred dog, even a backyard breeder would charge way more than that, so you would have to search shelters. I have a short hair mix german shepard he is about 10 years old. This couple wants to buy him from me he will pay for the shipping to bring the dog to him but i don't now how much to sell my dog to him. i can't take care of him any more because i'm expecting another child in january and i have already have three young boys all ready. i all ready have one dog and a few cats and bird i can't afford to take care of him any more. what do you think i should sell him for a good price. They are going to ship him to Wyoming state. the woman that is married to this man she is a veterinarian. he will be taking good care of him. do you have any ideas for me.

Only charge them what it will cost to ship your dog. It's nice enough that he has a good home to go to now that you can't keep him anymore after 10 years of being with you. You don't need to make a profit out of getting rid of your pet.

well being in rescue for35 yrs i would get alot of info he could be heading for a bait pit bull ring.why after 10 yrs and part of your family could you let him go?do you have any relatives to take him hes getting up there in age.please make sure you get all there info and check it out.i would charge100.00 and see what they do.did you have pics?

Why do you have to sell him? If his family is willing to take in your 10 year old dog, you should only charge them the shipping fee, which I would probably pay myself.

He is your responsibility for his WHOLE life.. animals are not disposable.. you have other animals too, will you be looking to unload them soon too? How is it that you can't afford to take care of only this animal any longer.. I don't think you are telling us the whole story here.. I hope to God that you don't sell this animal and then have to read what horrors he endured in his last hours on earth!

I've done my research and it seems that $300 is usually a standard price from shelters because they've spent the money and already spayed/neutered the animals plus they put in the money to get the animals up to date shots. The dog I'm adopting is only 2 and usually adult or elderly animals get a $250 donation because they don't have as long as a lifespan.
So, as long as your dog is spayed/neutered and up to date on it's shots I can see you asking them for $250 (not including shipping!) as reasonable. Hope that helped.
